Challenge accepted! This client wanted to maximize their Lake Michigan views and natural light by vaulting their 8-foot ceiling to 12 feet. Our solution? Site-framed scissor trusses! This allowed us to achieve the dramatic height without disrupting the existing roof structure. The transformation is absolutely breathtaking!
We solved the challenge of removing a load bearing mid-span wall, while at the same time providing much desired added height to the ceilings by reframing the roof structure from the inside. We created site built scissor trusses that clear span the space, without having to remove the entire roof.
Working in collaboration with our structural engineer, the process included a temporary support of the existing roof while the existing structure was removed and reframing took place. This is a great budget friendly solution for clients interested in increasing ceiling height.
